Posy is making cupcakes when a monster appears at her door. She is very frightened until she realizes it is just Pip in a costume. Pip apologizes for scaring her and let's Posy have a turn wearing the monster costume. They play all day and then have a snack.
The large text and short sentences in Pip and Posy: The Scary Monster make it clear this book is meant for young children. The illustrations are simple and fun, but there is no clear message or flow to the plot. This book could be used to help teach children the importance of sharing, but only as a supplement to other books and lessons since the sharing message is not strong.
