The neighborhood boys have just finished a football game when the girls show up and ask to play. Bobby refuses, but challenges them to a four-on-three game, aiming to dominate. The day before the game, the boys’ star player's sneakers go missing. Jigsaw Jones and Mila, neighborhood detectives, are hired to take on the case. At the end of the day, they find out that the very people who were supposed to play had stolen the shoes to stop the game. They didn’t want a face-off, they just wanted to play for fun. The mystery solved, the Turkey Bowl is back on, but this time just for fun, with all the neighborhood involved.
The Jigsaw Jones Mystery series are a fun set of books for elementary school children to read. This book fits right in with the others, as Jigsaw and his partner, Mila, solve another childhood mystery with fun dialogue and a clever story. The story is well-developed, with good pacing and clarity. The characters are fun, and though the story is short, readers still know the main characters fairly well upon finishing the book. However, it is not like Encyclopedia Brown books where the reader is given all the information and a chance to solve it. This book walks the reader through the case, leaving nothing wondering. This is a quick, fun, and enjoyable story!
