Alligators have been around a long time, since the day of dinosaurs! American alligators are the largest reptiles in North America. Swamps are the location of many alligator homes. They build dens there to keep warm or cool. There are many types of alligators and people hunt them for many reasons. Readers will learn all this, and more, in Alligators in the Swamp.

Alligators in the Swamp is a level three Magic Reader, meaning it includes more complex vocabulary, varied sentence structure, and limited repetition. There are one or two sentences with an illustrated photo on every page. Captions are included on pages with more than one type of alligator shown. While Alligators in the Swamp is an informational text, it does not include a table of contents, a glossary, an index, or page headings. In addition, the title of this book is not very appropriate, as the bulk of information in this book is not about swamps.
