Mrs. Pritchett and her elementary school class are looking for signs of spring. The twins, Jada and Jamal, find many in their yard, including birds building a nest, a caterpillar inching along, and flowers blooming. Earth day comes around and trees are donated to their school, but the students have a hard time finding signs of spring besides the blooming trees. They team up with their teacher and families to create a garden in the school yard and decorate the drab gray wall near the school. Together they bring the beauty and newness of life that comes with spring to their school!
Bradford Street Buddies: Springtime Blossoms is a level three Green Light Reader book. This is a perfect transition book between easy reader books and beginning chapter books. There are a few short chapters, simple dialogue, and engaging content. This book features an African American family and other diverse cultures. Springtime Blossoms would be perfect to showcase on Earth day or read with children who are learning about seasons, especially signs of spring. The illustrations are detailed and realistic, keeping readers engaged throughout the story.
