Danny and the dinosaur see the sign on the museum that reads “meet the king,” and the two decide to brush up on their manners if a real king is coming to visit the museum. They work on chewing with their mouths closed, opening the door for others, and waiting in line patiently for the drinking fountain. Together they prepare to meet the king that is coming (although he might not be what they expected).
This book is a great way to teach children about their manners and give them characters they can model their behavior afterwards. The dinosaur is not always the best at having good manners though—sometimes his head goes through the ceiling when he tries to stand up straight. The combination of fun and real life skills is combined to create a book that teaches while still being enjoyable. It is perfect for young children who love to read and learn about dinosaurs and simple enough that it is readable. The words are well chosen and are not overused; instead they create an interesting plot that can engage readers.
