Nikki, the main character, is just like any other girl in school. She has her best friends Chloe and Zoe, a few frenemies like MacKenzie, and a crush Brandon. Nikki, who is often bullied by MacKenzie, and who she may or may not be jealous of, starts writing a gossip column for the school newspaper which fuels a sudden burst of motivation to join the newspaper herself as a secret advice columnist. Soon, she finds herself with lots of people asking for help and she realizes she needs advice and support just as much as her readers do. Thank goodness that her friends are there to help her figure it all out.

This book is hilarious, realistic, and full of surprises. What really makes this book successful is the fact that most girls can relate to Nikki. A little shy and awkward in public, but a rock star among their friends. No matter how hard you try, there will always be moments of embarrassment and frustration. Hopefully those moments will end up being as humorous as these. It is great for girls young and old. The comic book-like illustrations are fun and attractive and makes this book easy to read, but not easy to put down. The Dork Diaries series continues to be humorous and relatable and perfect for pre-teens and teens!
