John D. Rockefeller. Henry Ford. Bill Gates. Steve Jobs. These are some of the richest men in the world, known for their entrepreneurship and innovation. Elon Musk is well on his way to join the ranks. Born in South Africa, Elon grew up with a sense of adventure, willing to take risks and wanting to learn all that he could. He moved to the United States, where he started a company that would eventually become PayPal. Over the years, he has founded SpaceX, Tesla, and SolarCity. He has experienced the ups and downs of starting a company, coming close to bankruptcy, but ended up on top. His companies and vision are changing the industries of space, automotive, and energy, but they don't stop there. Elon plans to change the world.
Highly informative, this book gives insights into Elon's life and presents information in a close and personal way. The author interviews countless people, striving to get the full story and not settling for one point of view. The reader feels the anxiety and exhaustion of the workers, Musk’s passionate drive, and the celebratory joy when plans finally pan out. The chapters are divided largely by industry and sometimes the reading isn't chronological, which can be slightly confusing, but overall it was well-organized. It does take quite a bit of brain power to make sense of much of the technology, but the material is highly engaging and well worth the effort. This book is a great read, especially for those interested in automotive, space, and energy industries.
