Grace knows that she is not crazy, but no one else seems to agree with her. She knows that her mother was murdered and that she saw the killer. When she moves back to Embassy Row to live with her grandfather, a powerful ambassador, she’s not sure how to handle putting on fancy dresses and pretending like everything is okay in this place without her mother. When she sees the man that killed her mother, her life gets even more complicated because one wrong move in Embassy Row could start a war. With the help of her new friends from the different countries represented on Embassy Row, she works to get to the bottom of what happened to her mother and how to make her life okay again.
The author of well-known series The Gallagher Girls and Heist Society will not disappoint with this new series. Like her other books, the plot is a complex weaving of secret societies, and the complex weaving of politics and espionage on Embassy Row is delightful. The characters are fun and well-developed, making the reader root for Grace and the assortment of friends that she makes in her new home. The book is unlike most other books in its combination of murder mystery and the politics of Embassy Row, and it is an intense read that will thrill with its characters, plot, and surprises that will leave the reader anxiously wanting the rest of the books in the series.
