It would be a day like any other if George's shadow would behave. Instead he finds it sipping a cup at his breakfast table and it refuses to take things lying down. At first George finds this quite upsetting and tries to help his shadow see reason, but when his dog is seduced to the "dark side" George begins to soften and soon they have a wonderful day of fun and adventure. The next morning all seems well until George looks in the mirror. Is that his reflection?
This story has a clever twist. What if your shadow suddenly developed a will of it's own? George's initial response is hesitation, who wouldn't? But he warms to his new friend as the day goes on, This story illustrates the process one goes through when meeting the unexpected in life. At first it is a bit alarming and it may take a while to warm up to, but as time goes by one may find that even the unexpected has an unexpected appeal. A person just has to be wiling to adapt and go with the new flow. This is a great book that is especially appropriate for children who are going through an unanticipated phase of life.
