Hello World is a beautifully illustrated board book that transports readers to different countries with each turn of the page. Readers will learn to say "hello" in over 150 languages. Using colorful and detailed drawings of people in their cultural costumes, each spread also presents information on the continents of the world: Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Oceania. The pages have numerous flaps that identify the country or region and their way of saying hello in their language. The underside of the flaps show the word pronunciation and the number of native speakers of the language. The book concludes with the illustrated world and numerous flaps saying "goodbye" in all the different languages.
This book is striking with sturdy board pages and a lovely durable cover. Children and adults will enjoy the quality of the artwork as well as the specific facts of each country and language. It is charming and educational, and readers can spend a great deal of time exploring the intricate illustrations as they learn to say "hello" in numerous languages. Although the reading and interest level for this book begins at three-years-old, the book may be better suited for older children. Younger children will enjoy the colors and illustrations, however the flaps may prove difficult to open and close and the durability of the flaps is not sturdy enough for a younger child to use over and over again. Overall, this book is one for parents and younger children to enjoy together, or for older children and adults to individually explore and appreciate the details presented in the book Hello World.
