Creepy crawly spiders, shadows in the dark, and moving to a new place can be terrifying. A little girl takes you through some scary situations and turns them around into something less frightening. She shows that sometimes a spider maybe beautiful with its detailed web, or that shadows on the wall can be a silly hand puppet.
Author & illustrator Laura Vaccaro Seeger brings to life the fears that preschool-aged children may have and puts a positive twist on them. Using acrylic paint collages with die-cut, each set of pages alternates between something scary and something positive while using the phrase “but not anymore.” The text is nice and large and suitable for young and beginning readers alike. It is a great book to help kids conquer their own fears.
