Let's Explore Liquids provides valuable information for children about the science behind liquids. Matter can be in the form of a liquid, solid or gas. Liquids flow and don't have a particular shape. They can be hard to hold. When liquids get hot, they begin to boil, and the liquid evaporates and becomes a gas. The gas can also change back into a liquid. When liquids get cold, they freeze and become solid. When they get warm again, they change back into a liquid.
This is a really, really good first book on liquids! The text follows simple lines of thought with simple words and sentences. The glossary in the back is a picture glossary that accompanies the definition, whic is such a good idea. There is a short 'quiz' at the end of the book that asks the reader to identify which of the pictures have liquids. There are questions throughout the book that test for comprehension and application of the principles. This book is a great book to introduce young kids to identifying types of materials and to reading.
