Little Sister Rabbit leaves her burrow eager to safely hop and play in the sun with all the foxes gone home to bed. She ignores several warning signs that she might be in danger. Suddenly, out leaps a hungry fox cub, intent on eating her! Little Sister Rabbit feels scared and alone, but when the fox cub nips her, she finds inner strength and bounces away with the fox cub in close pursuit. Luckily, rabbits "are born to run" and she makes it safely home.
Originally published in Sweden, the English translation is clear, though some terms are distinctly European - for example, referring to Band-Aids as “sticking plasters.” The illustrations are lovely and soft, and the entire book has a classic feel, having been originally published in 1987. This could be a fun book for teaching children the importance of trusting their instincts and being brave in the face of danger.
*Contains mild violence.
