Every year since she was five, Lucy has written Santa a letter to be left by the cookies she always leaves out. But when she is seven she begins to wonder how Santa makes it down all the chimneys. What does he do when people don’t have a chimney? When Lucy is eight, she writes one last letter for Santa and puts it on her mother’s bed.
This is a beautifully written story and Martha Brockenbrough does a wonderful job of explaining the truth about Santa Claus. Though it is easy to understand and the pictures are playful, this story is not for young ears who still believe in Santa. But when they do find out the truth, this is a gentle way to help keep the excitement of Christmas.
