A little boy learns about fire drills in school. He makes a map that shows the exits for his house and where his family meeting spot is in case of a fire. He labels all the rooms in his house. The map also has a key and compass rose to help people read the map.
This book is an excellent simple nonfiction book for very young children. The words are simple enough for beginner readers to read independently. Any words they may not be familiar with are in bold with a definition included in the glossary. There is only one or two short sentences per page. After reading the book, it would be easy to help children make a fire plan and map for their own family. A great book!
