Students in elementary school are learning about Memorial Day and have been asked to write a report or complete a project about what the holiday means to them personally. The students each find someone to interview, and their researching culminates with a trip to the local cemetery to place flowers on graves. They make a difference in their community and learn more about what a meaningful day Memorial Day really is.
This readers’ theater script and guide includes all the information one would need to put on a puppet show or play. Information about school plays along with a list of cast, crew, sets, props, makeup, costumes, and stage directions are included. The different parts are color-coded, making it easy for students to identify different characters’ parts. A teacher’s guide with reading levels for each character and additional production tips for this play can be found online. The play is appropriate for students reading between a second and fifth grade level.
