Leon is a chameleon, but he can’t change colors like all the other chameleons in the jungle. Try as he might, he doesn’t blend in to the landscape around him. This makes him sad, and he searches day and night for a place where he can fit in. Sometimes he thinks he finds a place where he belongs. In the end he finds out that all he needs is one person to be his match.
The vibrant neon theme of the book (featured prominently on the inside illustrations and matching the neon chameleon’s hue) create a contrasting atmosphere from the jungle. The interactivity of the book is clever and age-appropriate. Children reading are asked to help and encourage Leon along through his despair of feeling like he doesn’t fit in. This book includes counting to ten and color identification.
