No way was he going into second grade! Being in second grade would mean he wouldn’t be in the same class as his best friend, Tyler. He also would have to say goodbye to the twisty slide and the cool jobs that only first-graders get to do. But the worst of all about going into second grade is that he got Mr. Glazer as his teacher! Tyler’s sisters say that he makes his students learn all the presidents and gives horrendous spelling tests. He slowly realizes that Tyler’s sisters were just messing with him. Maybe second grade won’t be so bad after all!
This book is a wonderful story for those young children who worry about going into a new grade with a new teacher at the beginning of the school year. Written from the perspective of the almost-second-grader, it includes his funny personality and reasonable excuses of why he should not be going into second grade. He liked first grade! With its playful illustrations and a positive outlook for going into a new grade by the end, young children will be sure to enjoy! Great book to be read in a school classroom!
