A mother addresses her toddler and explains all the tender surprises that come with a child. She mentions the gamut of childhood experiences, from giggly, splashy bath time to gluey, glittery craft projects. The biggest surprise is how much the mother ginormously loves her child and her delight that dreams really do come true.
The rhythm of the text, the message of the book, and the bright pastels of the pictures will appeal to small children. However, the content of the illustrations and words might resonate more with parents than with kids. Parents can empathize with the bemusement and exhaustion of the mom as she reflects on the expectations and realities of raising a child. While it will not likely become your child’s favorite story, the book will provide you an opportunity at bedtime to snuggle your silly, wonderful children close and whisper to them how much you love them.
