Levers are simple machines that help us move heavy objects. In order to create a lever, you will need two things: a fulcrum and a bar. Place the load on top of the bar and apply force to the other end. That is how you can lift and move heavy objects using the simple lever tool. If you don't recognize a word, don't worry, just look it up in the glossary!
This book includes a table of contents, glossary, web links for more information, and index. The glossary defines unfamiliar technical terms such as effort, fulcrum, load, mechanical advantage, and simple machine (an explanation for force would have been helpful too). Nearly every sentence in the book includes one of these words, so parents should go through the glossary with their child first. There are multiple examples of different levers and diagrams that illustrate each part. The sentence structure of the book is extremely simple with just one or two sentences per page. This should help children not to feel frustrated with the high level of language and give them time to internalize the concepts while looking at the diagrams.
