Migo thinks his future is set in stone. He is going to one day take his father's place as the ringer of the gong, which wakes the mighty snail to begin his journey across the sky and bring light to the world. Then, on the very day that he receives his helmet to begin training, Migo misses the mark and discovers a smallfoot. He runs back to the village proclaiming his discovery, but both the smallfoot and his plane disappear before he can show anyone the evidence. Declared a fraud and banished from the village, Migo makes some off-beat friends who believe him. Migo sets off to discover what lies below the clouds, and discovers more than he ever thought possible.
The animation in this movie is outstanding! It is really well done and detailed. The beginning of the story is exceptionally, and perhaps a little unfairly, harsh on traditions and traditional thinking, but the ending more than compensates with a message of acceptance and truth-seeking. The humor is fun for all ages, and Migo is a very lovable individual. The scenes of communication between Yeti and man are especially amusing and will have grownups and children giggling together in no time. A light touch of romance provides Migo with his motivation for embarking on his quest and the human motivation for following him home is equally believable. This is a fun holiday flick with plenty to lure parents to the theater with their children.
