Victor Starspeeder is starting his second year at Jedi Academy and everything is going well until he meets Zavyer, who has all the same friends. Zavyer is very similar to Victor. They spent some time together and Victor realizes that they have lots in common. Victor realizes his older sister Christina isn’t acting normal. After finals they have their big school dance, and someone tells Victor that Christina is on the roof. When Victor and his friends get up their they see her talking to someone from the dark side. It turns out to be Victor's father! Their father tries to have them join the dark side, but in the end Yoda comes to save the day. Their father is captured and Christina is pronounced a hero!
The Force Oversleeps is an interesting title for the book because it only talks about Victor oversleeping and being late to class a few times. However, the story is good and teaches many great lessons. It can teach readers about humility, cyberbullying, putting families first, and following your passions. Victor experiences many things that happen in school nowadays and handles the experiences well. Young readers can learn a lot from Victor. This graphic novel has fun illustrations throughout the book and also has pages that are from the Jedi Academy school newspaper. It is well paced and has smaller problem and solutions within an overarching problem and solution. Overall, this book is a fantastic read!
