Arnie the Doughnut and Peezo the piece of Pizza have landed a spot on the Spinny Icky Showdown television show! They have to go up against several other teams in certain "icky" challenges, including items like bricks, toothpicks, pickles, and knickers. The team that wins every round earns a fantastic icky trophy. Arnie and Peezo really want the trophy to put next to Mr. Bing's bowling trophy. Although Arnie and Peezo make it through the first few rounds, they help a fellow teammate and consequently forfeit the prize. They learn two important lessons in the end: winning isn't everything and conquering your fears is a win in and of itself!

This is an exciting graphic novel of sorts with text mixed in with the pictures on each page, comic bubbles, and a variety of fonts. The author has a fun way of explaining words that might be unfamiliar to readers, such as “toupee,” “debut,” and “knickers.” This series is very humorous and extremely unrealistic, due to the fact that the main characters are a talking doughnut and piece of pizza. There are puns scattered throughout the story and creative characters whose personalities are always true to their names.
