Several years after the adventurous events of Scotland with the Loch Ness Monster, Vanessa finds herself wanting to relax with a friend on her family’s ranch in Mexico. While Vanessa went in search of the last cryptid monster, this time a new one has found her. It has devoured the ranch’s animals and terrorized the locals. In her search to find the truth, Vanessa may also need to uncover a curse on her friend’s family. The legend of the infamous Mexican "Goat-Sucker" could be true!

The second Cryptid Files is set up very similarly to the first book: short chapters interspersed with real facts or sightings of the "chupacabra" monster. The real difference between the first book and the sequel is a lack of character development due to the fast-paced chapters. In the Cryptid Files #1, Readers have a real connection to Vanessa and her mother in a coming-of-age story. Cryptid Files #2 is much more "monster" centered, similar to the Goosebumps series. Nevertheless, The Cryptid Files #2 is still an excellent read!
