Come watch the food parade! First come grains, full of carbohydrates. Then the vegetables and fruits which contain nutrients and vitamins that our body needs. Following these are dairy products which have calcium to keep our bones strong. And finally protein comes along with iron, fiber, and long lasting energy.

This book defines all the food groups and lets the reader know why they are important to our diet and what benefits they bring. It includes little facts about different foods in each food group and has a glossary at the end to define terms about nutrition. It also has two different depictions of a healthy diet- the food pyramid and the food plate – as taught by myplate.gov. The artwork is a little strange, but it is very artsy and the book itself is still cute and informational – perfect for teaching kids about nutrition.
