In the final story, Mirror (the magic mirror a.k.a the Master) has taken over Granny Relda's body in an effort to escape Ferryport Landing. However, he is unable to leave and the Scarlet Hand is wildly rampaging through the town and causing mass destruction. The Grimm Family takes refuge in Charming's new castle along with some twenty or so other Everafter refugees. The war seems hopeless, but with the help of the Wicked Queen, they are able to procure a prophesy from the magic mirrors, providing their only course of hope. Only the Grimm sisters can lead the army to victory with Sabrina at the head and Daphne with a coven of witches. They stumble and make mistakes, but soon come face to face with Mirror in an epic end to this amazing series.
The Council of Mirrors by Michael Buckley is the ninth and final book in The Sisters Grimm series. The novel is most notable for its take on the Snow White story. In this book, the Wicked Queen explains that she rewrote the story from a tragic tale in which Snow died to the beloved story we know today. She wrote herself as the villain and recreated William Charming into the perfect man so that Snow would not marry Charming's evil older brother. When Charming learns this, he struggles with his concept of identity and his love for Snow White. Similarly, Sabrina struggles with her own identity as she is suddenly called upon to lead an army. She learns to rely on herself (the queen of sneaks) instead of relying solely on the opinions of others. In the climax, Mirror also learns about identity as well as love. The novel offers an opportunity for introspection through each character's experience.
