This story, told by mother to child, is a way for kids to get their wiggles out before going to sleep. It moves from body part to body part, inviting the child to do something silly. After the child flaps his arms, flies like a bird, finds his tummy and toes, and gets plenty of tickles, he is all tuckered out and ready for bed. The book finally wraps up with the touching scene, “But wait just a minute! We can’t forget this—let me hold you… and squeeze you… and give you a kiss!”
With a sweet, loving, and playful tone, Tuck-in Time encourages delightful parent-child interaction before bedtime. The activities suggested are easy to understand and do, and young children will definitely get a kick out of following them. Soft watercolor illustrations that take up the majority of the pages are splendid, perfectly depict the text, and feature not only the child but also his rabbit stuffed animal and an adorable little dog, making them even more entertaining. All in all, this is a perfect bedtime book for active toddlers.
