In this gentle and cleverly rhymed book, the water cycle is conveyed through what otherwise looks and feels like a narrative picture book. The children are taken on a journey through seasons, with the ability to see and understand how water changes. The steps are simple enough for young readers to comprehend, but the author provides are lengthier more scientific description for each step at the end of the book.
The illustrations in Water is Water are soft-hued, but very realistic watercolor. The artwork provides a realistic visualization, but in a playful and gentle way. The different steps for the water process are scientific, yet described through pictures that allow for a visual and simple understanding. The artist is also quite skillful at portraying light sources, whether it be through the foggy street, or the warm sunset.
